Bathroom Floor

When Micah and Karin were here over Thanksgiving weekend, they put the tile in the bathroom floor. This is the same tile that is in the shower.

This is before we grouted it.

A few weeks later, Adam grouted the tile, and I came behind him and cleaned the grout off with a sponge.

I had to clean it off several times to get all the excess grout off.

After it was all clean, Adam then sealed it. Since it is slate, it needs sealed (and resealed every couple years).

The long awaited sink and faucet!!!!!

December 2009:

Now that the concrete countertops were cured and stained, we were finally able to install the sink and faucet. We used the sink and faucet in the other house for about a year with the intentions of moving it over to the new house! Any guesses on what brand of faucet? Delta, of course! For any of you that might not know, Adam is a design engineer for Delta Faucet company!

First Night Sleeping in our own Bedroom

November 2009:

We had been sleeping in one of the unfinished rooms upstairs, but Micah and Karin were coming to visit so we moved our bed in our bedroom from the other house to our bedroom in the new house. We also have the tv and internet hooked up in the new house, so it is starting to feel more like a home.

Cleaning

November 2009:

It is so hard to keep the bamboo bedroom floor clean because of all the dust in the rest of the house and the concrete foors in the rest of the downstairs. My dad and Marti came over one day to help me work on the house, and Marti worked her magic. The floor in the bedroom looked awesome. She cleaned it all up and put towels on the floor from the entry door to the bathroom, so we wouldn't track more dirt and dust in there. She also helped clean the kitchen tile. It looked amazing!

Painting

November 2009:

Now that all the mudding and sanding was done in the living room, I was able to paint that big wall. We choose a paint color called "Rocky Mountain Sky." Reminds me of my old home state, Colorado! We have had some good helpers in helping us paint.

My mom has been telling me to call her when we

are all ready to paint! She loves painting! She and

my nephew, Paul, came over to help prime the big wall.

Water

November 2009:

One day in November, our water stopped working in the old house. When he finally got it working again, it only worked in the new house! If that isn't incentive to move into the new house, I'm not sure what is. :) So, we now get to take our shower in the new shower! Yay! We also had to move the washer and dryer over to the new house!

November 2009: Kitchen work

We got new kitchen stainless steel appliances...Fridge, stove, microwave, and dishwasher.

November

November 2009:

Where has the time gone? I can't believe it is already the first day of December! I have been slacking lately on taking pictures and the blog. We have We have been doing a lot of odds and ends things since I've last updated.

We decided to make concrete countertops for the kitchen. (You know, since we don't have enough concrete in the house already? Haha). This was more difficult than we anticipated. It took us 3 times until they looked good. To make a concrete countertop, first you make the form, then you mix the cement with water, put the concrete in the form, vibrate it to get the airbubbles out, wait for it to cure, move it to the cabinets, stain it, steal it!

Bonfire

One night after working all day, Micah, Adam and Kristi built a bonfire with all the cardboard trash that we had accumulated throughout the day. It was a nice size bonfire. We even made s'mores (but not on the bonfire, but on a blowtorch).

Master Bedroom

This week, we finished the drywall in the bedroom, mudded, sanded, painted, and started laying the bamboo flooring.

Power People

The power people came to the house to hook up our power. They had to dig a trench to get to the new meter base.
