Drywalling Endwalls around Windows

September 09:
Now that the foam was in around the windows, we could drywall over them. For some reason, this really made the rooms look different. I love seeing our house transform!

Don scraping the foam to make it even, so they could
hang drywall over it.

Funny!

I just had to put this in. A few weeks ago at work, I was talking to some of my coworkers about my house. One of them told another that it reminded her of Patrick Star's house (from Sponge Bob Square Pants). "You know, like an upside down bowl made out of a rock." I thought that was hilarious! Not being an avid Sponge Bob fan, I didn't know what Patrick's house looked like. I couldn't wait to get home to google search Patrick Star's house.

Any resemblance??? I don't know...Maybe! Our's doesn't open up on the top like his does. I still think it looks like a teddy bear without a head!

Auction Purchases

September 09:

Adam's dad heard about a "construction type" auction in Indy! I guess there were companies that had gone out of business and were selling their leftover stuff. It started at 10am. We got there at about 9am, so we would have time to look at all the stuff they were auctioning off. We didn't end up leaving until 6pm (and that was only because I had to work at 7pm.) The auction was a success. We bought all of our hardwood floors for the upstairs, the corner shower unit for one of the bathrooms upstairs, 2 glass bowl sinks for the master bathroom (my personal favorite purchase of the day), and several tools.

Adam after we won the hardwood floors!

I know it is hard to tell in this picture, but this
is the shower base. We left it on the side of the
interstate. While driving on 465, it blew out of
truck. We think it was partially ran over. It
wasn't worth saving. Funny story though, because
when I bought the tub at Lowes, it also fell out of the
truck. I don't think we are able to get something
for one of the bathrooms without it falling out of the
truck. We got such a good deal on the shower, that
even if we have to spend 100 bucks on parts for it, it is
still worth it.

The new hardwood floors upstairs still
in the packaging.

Here is one piece. It is handscraped solid oak!

This is my favorite purchase of the day. We got 2
of these glass bowl sinks. We will put these in the master
bathroom. I love them!

Foam around the Windows

September 09:
This is actually something that we hired someone to do. If you can remember way back last year after we inflated the dome, we hired someone to spray the foam on the inside of the airform. He came back and sprayed around the windows. We could not do this ourselves, because we do not have the equipment to do so. Now our house is completely insulated and the windows don't leak. Now, we should never have a mouse ever get in our house.

Front door.. We will drywall over this foam.

Lots of cut drywall pieces = Lots of trash

September 09:
While Adam was at work one day, I spent several hours taking all the extra cut up peices of drywall from the different rooms into the truck. Obviously, we could not leave all this for the trash people to pick up, so I had to take a couple loads of this to the local dump. YUK!!! I have a new found respect for people that work in the trash service. That is a job I could never do! I couldn't stand the smell!

First, I would carry the pieces to this location, which is
right by the front door.

Then, I would take it to the truck. There were 2
full truckloads.

More and More Drywall.

September 09:
It didn't take long, just a lot of work. The drywall in the whole house is just about done. Just a few pieces here and there are left to do.

A Long Labor Day Weekend.

September 09:
Labor Day weekend was full of hard "labor." As I worked all weekend (Thurs, Fri, Sat, & Sun nights), Adam and "crew" hung drywall. It is amazing how much the house is transitioning. People keep saying, "It's starting to look like a real house now." Thanks to everyone that helped us this weekend...Mike Veros, Dan Allen, Isaac DeVries, Aaron DeVries, Don DeVries, Bob Euneman. I know I say this a lot, but we really appreciate all the help.
