Pocket Doors

July 09:

The utility room is going to have pocket doors. This will help to reduce space. Here we are framing in the "frame" for the pocket door. There are 3 pocket doors: 1) From the main entry way to to the utility room 2) from the utility room to Adam's closet and 3) From Adam's closet to the master bathroom.

Where the empty space is where the door will be, and then

it will slide into the "pocket"

The 1st Bath Tub

July 09:

Our first bath tub was put into place. This will be one of the upstairs bathrooms. Some of you may know the bad story that came with this tub, and if you do...you may notice that it doesn't look that bad!

Water Lines/Electrical Panel

July 09:

Kristi made a trip to South Carolina for 5 days to spend time with her grandparents 10 days after her grandma had knee surgery. When she came back, she couldn't believe how much Adam had gotten done on the house. Too bad there are not many pictures of all the work he did, because he couldn't take pictures of himself. But, here are some after shots. Very impressive!

These are the water lines that will pump the water to different parts of the house.

They will connect to an expansion tank.

Building a Wall/Bench

July 09:

Directly above our master bedroom is another bedroom. We are building a bench/wall/chest for this bedroom because the window is too high to meet code requirements. (If there were a fire, you would not be able to get out of the window unless there was something there to stand on.) The pictures are able to explain it better than I am in words.

See the arch....that is what we have to cover. We also have

make an access for that window (to be able to get out of).

Finishing up the Duct Work

July 09:

We are just about done with the duct work. One of the last steps was to connect it to the geothermal heat pump. Adam has been working hard at getting the geothermal heat pump working.

May I Introduce the Geothermal Heat Pump...

We are going to use a geothermal heat pump to heat and cool our house. Today it was delivered.

Quack Quack: Duct Work

Now onto the duct work. Suprisingly, Adam has never done this type of duct work before. So, we both learned at the same time. Adam would connect the pieces together, and I would tape them up (so the air would not get out). William came over one Friday night to look at the house, and we asked if he wanted to stay the night and help us work on the house the next day. He stayed the whole day on Saturday, and got a lot done! Thanks, William!
